HOOF BOOTS! I now stock Easy Care Epic Hoof Boots! You can view these boots at www.easycareinc.com Hoof Boots are a superior alternative to traditional metal shoes. They can help your horse transition to barefoot much faster than just leaving the horse bare. They provide protection and cushioning to hooves during riding, exercise, and for limited time during turnout. They can make the difference between an owner keeping the horse barefoot or going back to shoes. Foundered horses can get the movement they need to detoxify their system while wearing hoof boots in the paddock. They should not be used continually for turnout, but can be very helpful in the initial stages of founder, and for a navicular horse.
I currently stock sizes 00 through 4, but can get any size needed through special order. I offer my clients a discount on all boots, and free fitting. I'll be glad to supply boots to anyone who needs them. If you don't know what size boot your horse needs, I can come to your farm and fit them. My fitting fee is $35.00 in addition to the price of the boots. I do ask that before fitting, your horse be recently trimmed. For boots to fit properly at all times, the horse should be kept on a regular trimming schedule. After 4-6 weeks of growth, a properly fitted hoof boot will no longer fit your horse, so keep up his trims!
Boots are currently $130.00 for a set of two boots with 1/2inch pads. This price includes shipping, handling, and fitting for Total Balance Clients. For all others, the boot price is the same with an additional $35.00 fitting/farm call fee.
I also have Soaking Boots. These are $25 per boot. These do not need to be fitted, but do require a measurement across the widest part of the hoof, and then from the toe to the heel. Soakers work great for stubborn thrush, cracks and splits that are caused by, or worsened by, bacterial invasion. Again, it is imperative to keep hooves trimmed regularly to prevent most pathology in the first place, and once healing has begun, we certainly don't want to impede it by not keeping up with trims. |
